Alyssa’s Bedtime Stories 5th Annual Charity Event

This holiday season as we get wrapped up in making sure everyone has the perfect gift(s), making sure our Christmas trees have the correct number of ornaments, and our homes just enough flashing lights, there will be many children not fortunate enough to experience this excitement and festive excess.

Hi, my name is Alyssa Deraco and I’m 15 years old. Five years ago
I started collecting books and pajamas to give to kids of all ages
because I wanted to make a difference in their lives.
Some of these kids didn’t have a home, new clothes or all the other luxuries that so many of us take for granted every day.

In 2008 my Mom and I started a Non-profit Charity called Alyssa’s Bedtime Stories. We are dedicated to giving hope to children through a simple act of kindness and generosity – The gift of a book and warm Pajamas!!

We’ve donated thousands of children’s books and pajamas to Lancaster area organizations such as Milagro house, Clare house, domestic violence services of Lancaster and many more!!! We have also had the privilege of sending Pajamas to underprivileged children in Guatemala and Honduras.

Every year we hold a fundraising event to help support our cause. In 2013 our Bedtime stories event was held on Sat, November 23rd from 7pm -12pm at the Lancaster Convention Center.
We chose this time of year because it allows us to buy books and pajamas so they can be giving to the children as holiday gift just in time for Christmas.

Music By DJ Rock G and drinks & appetizers was served throughout the evening… with coffee and cake given as a celebratory send off.

A silent auction (with fabulous prizes!) took place… and all the fun runneth over for a good cause: warm pajamas and priceless books for kids!
